Trip Description

DAY 1 – Arrival in Kathmandu

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, you are welcomed and transferred to your hotel. Administrative formalities for trekking permits are handled, and the remainder of the day is free to rest or take a first gentle walk through the city. Overnight in Kathmandu.

DAY 2 – Discovering Kathmandu

After breakfast, you explore Kathmandu, one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, also known as Kantipur. The day reveals a remarkable concentration of temples, stone sculptures, monasteries, and palaces. You visit Durbar Square, dominated by the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, once home to Nepalese royalty. You discover the temple of the Living Goddess, Kasthamandap, from which Kathmandu takes its name, and numerous shrines reflecting the city’s spiritual depth. The visit continues to Swayambhunath, the ancient hilltop stupa known as the Monkey Temple. Its white dome, golden spire, and all seeing eyes of Buddha overlook the entire valley. Overnight in Kathmandu.

DAY 3 – Journey to Dhampus via Pokhara

After breakfast, you begin a scenic drive toward the Annapurna region, passing through Pokhara before continuing to Phedi and on to Dhampus, a traditional Gurung village perched above the valley. The change of scenery is immediate, with mountains rising on the horizon and rural life unfolding along the road. Dhampus offers your first close views of the Annapurna range. Overnight in Dhampus.

DAY 4 – Dhampus to Landruk

The trek begins with a steady walk along mountain ridges and stone steps, passing through Pothana and reaching Deurali. From here, the trail follows the eastern side of the Modi Khola valley, flowing down from the Annapurna Sanctuary. Surrounded by forest and open landscapes, you continue on foot to the picturesque village of Landruk. From here, Annapurna South and Hiunchuli dominate the skyline, creating a dramatic and inspiring backdrop. Overnight in a lodge.

DAY 5 – Landruk to Chomrong

From Landruk, the trail winds along mountain paths through small hamlets and across suspension bridges. Dense bamboo forests create a feeling of deep isolation and serenity. A short stop at Jhinu allows time to rest before continuing northward. After several hours of walking, you arrive in Chomrong, a large village set on a hillside with breathtaking views of Machhapuchhare. Wooden lodges built in chalet style provide a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Overnight in Chomrong.

DAY 6 – Into the Heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary

After breakfast, you cross the Chomrong Khola and begin a climb along steep stone stairways. The trail weaves through rhododendron forests, mountain terrain, and bamboo groves. Each step brings wider and more powerful views of the Annapurna range and Machhapuchhare. Passing Modi Khola, Khuldigar, and Dovan, you gradually gain altitude before reaching your lodge, where rest and mountain silence await. Overnight in a lodge.

DAY 7 – Machhapuchhare Base Camp

Today’s walk leads deeper into the sanctuary. The path climbs and descends gently, passing Hinku Cave before entering the Annapurna Sanctuary itself. The landscape opens dramatically into a vast glacial bowl surrounded by towering peaks. Annapurna I, II, III, IV, and the iconic Machhapuchhare encircle you in every direction. You arrive at Machhapuchhare Base Camp, set on grassy moraine terrain, where the high Himalayan environment feels raw and majestic. Overnight in a lodge.

DAY 8 – Annapurna Base Camp

After breakfast, you walk toward Annapurna South Base Camp at 4,130 meters. The trail crosses gentle ridges and wide alpine meadows, offering uninterrupted panoramic views of snow covered summits rising in perfect symmetry. Standing at Annapurna Base Camp is a profound moment, surrounded by glaciers, icefalls, and some of the highest peaks in the world. After soaking in the scenery, you return to your lodge for rest and reflection. Overnight in a lodge.

DAY 9 – Descent to Chomrong

You begin the descent through changing landscapes, following forested ridges and misty hillsides. The trail passes near the Kali Gandaki region, known as the deepest gorge in the world and a significant natural boundary between eastern and western Himalayan ecosystems. Dense rhododendron and bamboo forests accompany you as you return to Chomrong. The familiar village feels welcoming after days spent deep in the mountains. Overnight in Chomrong.

DAY 10 – Chomrong to Ghandruk

Taking an alternate trail, you head toward Ghandruk, crossing forests, terraced fields, and suspension bridges over mountain streams. The walk gradually opens onto the beautifully preserved Gurung village of Ghandruk. Here, traditional stone houses, cultural customs, and daily village life reflect centuries old mountain traditions. The views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Annapurna III, and Machhapuchhare are among the finest in the region. Overnight in a lodge.

DAY 11 – Ghandruk to Pokhara

After enjoying sunrise views over the Himalaya, you descend toward Nayapul, passing through Syauli Bazaar and Birethanti along the Modi River. The trek gradually ends as you reach the road and continue by vehicle to Pokhara.
