Trip Description
During this trip to South India, you will explore the essence of Kerala. Embark on a luxury houseboat and stroll along Kovalam beach. This is an olfactory journey through the deep lands of the region—from the spices of Cochin to the tea plantations of Munnar, you will experience the best of Southern India.
DAY 1 – Arrival in Cochin
Welcome to India! A member of our team will greet you and escort you to your hotel. Enjoy the afternoon to rest or go out and explore the city for a first glimpse.
DAY 2 – Cochin
Explore the spices of Cochin. The old city of Kochi is one of the oldest Portuguese, Dutch, and English trading posts in the East. Stroll near the harbor to see the famous Chinese fishing nets, visit the baroque-style Santa Cruz Cathedral, and wander the Jewish Quarter through spice shops and artisan workshops.
DAY 3 – Cochin to Munnar
Head to Munnar to discover the lush tea and spice plantations. Enjoy the scenic green landscapes and take some photos while tasting some of the world’s best tea!
DAY 4 – Munnar to Madurai
Time for a new experience in Madurai, home to India’s largest temple: Sri Meenakshi Temple, dedicated to the wife of the god Shiva. Over 30,000 statues adorn the temple towers (Gopurams). In the evening, witness the Lord Shiva ceremony.
DAY 5 – Madurai
Continue your exploration of Madurai, also known as the Eastern Athens. Visit the Tailors’ Market, built over ancient temple ruins, and the Gandhi Museum, which traces the father of the nation's journey.
DAY 6 – Madurai to Periyar
Depart for Periyar, famous for its lush greenery and the Periyar Tiger Reserve (Thekkady). In the afternoon, visit a spice plantation to learn how pepper, tea, and other spices grow in Southern India.
DAY 7 – Periyar to Alleppey
Travel early to the Backwaters of Alleppey. Board a converted luxury spice transport boat (Houseboat) for a 24-hour cruise. After a traditional lunch, explore the tropical canals and visit a local village. Dinner will be served on the deck.
DAY 8 – Alleppey to Kovalam
Head to the beautiful beach of Kovalam. Enjoy the view and peaceful atmosphere.
DAY 9 – Kovalam
Relax all day at the beautiful beaches of Kovalam. Activities: relaxation and swimming.
DAY 10 – Departure from Kovalam
A team member will accompany you to Trivandrum International Airport for your onward flight.
